Saudi Falcons shine in Dubai

The Saudi Falcons BMW Z4 GT3 took to the track this week in Dubai for the 24Hours. Run with Schubert Motorsports, the car featured a unique part Chrome livery which worked well in the strong light and sunset of the Middle East.

The cars were expertly wrapped by Christian Dreyer. Schubert had previously campaigned the Team Need for Speed BMW Z4’s with my livery, again, wrapped by Christian.

Saudi Falcons debut new look

One of the leading teams in the Middle-East, the Saudi Falcons has a new look for their 2012/2013 season. The design features an evolution of the Falcon graphic on the side of their race cars which has now been emphasised by contrasting chrome and solid colouration

Following successful usage of material finishes on the Mustang RTR-X and the 2012 Tyler McQuarrie Racing Chevrolet Camaro, I took this one stage further by introducing a Chrome Green into their design. Working with the team over a number of months, we settled on solid color on the hood, roof and trunk as well as the ‘Falcon on the side. The contrast works well in the Middle East with their strong sunsets and open desert circuits. Continue Reading

SAS Porsche win Carrera Cup GB Championship

Matthew Meadows has followed in the SAS footsteps of Damien Faulkner by winning the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship for 2012. Meadows driving the Redline Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car won six races on the road to the title.
I originally designed the SAS livery back in 2004 for Andy and Gary Britnell and VLR Racing. Since then the livery has appeared every season and has been campaigned by many different teams including VLR, Motorbase, Lechner Racing and now Redline Racing.

SAS also sponsor a Porsche in the Middle East GT3 Cup

Congratulations to Matthew and Redline Racing

Porsche 918 RSR Retro Liveries

Way back in early 2011, I was working on vehicle customisation for Need for Speed The Run. EA had managed to obtain the rights for the Porsche 918 RSR Concept car which had been previewed earlier that year.

Each car  in-game has 2-3 levels of visual progression with a choice of colours at each level. I approached Porsche AG about creating some retro 917 liveries for the 918RSR given their heritage. It took a while but they eventually agreed to the three above, Hippy, Porsche Salzburg and the Pink Pig.

News – Tyler McQuarrie Mobil 1/ GoPro Camaro

Tyler McQuarrie made his debut as team owner this past weekend in the opening round of the 2012 Formula Drift Championship with the ex Gardella Racing Chevrolet Camaro.

Tyler contacted me after Gary Gardella recommended me to him in the closed season. We were able to work in the Go-Pro and Mobil 1 Sponsorship with a Gloss Black and Matte White design which continues the theme from the Gardella machine in 2011. Mobil 1 also used my original artwork for stickers at the opening round.

News – Zimmermann BMW M3 wide body

I was fortunate to work on Eric Zimmermann’s new BMW M3 E46 wide body build, which is currently in construction at Bimmerworld. The car is scheduled to make its debut towards the end of the year in the North American BMW CCA Club Racing Series.

This was a great livery to work with with a relatively clean piece of (digital) paper to work from. The brief was to design a striking livery.

News – Team Aon enter the World Touring Car Championship

News – Liveries return for 2012

I am fortunate in that a number of my race liveries return for 2012. In Formula Drift, Papadakis Racing and Fredric Aasbo retain their asymmetric Team Need for Speed livery with the car now in its correct Fluorescent Red. Elsewhere on the Team Need for Speed Roster, Matt Power returns with his Nissan S14.

In Australia, Mad Mike Whiddett also retained his Team NFS livery, now with camouflage graphics on his Red Bull Mazda RX-7 and RX-8. In this case, Need for Speed has been replaced by Speedhunters as title sponsors.news_sas_2012

Back in the UK, SAS International continue to sponsor in the Porsche Carrera Cup and continue with a livery I originally designed in 2003. I wish I was on yearly commission for that one.

All the best for 2012.

News – Bimmerworld retains ABD

Following their 2011 livery, I was commissioned by Bimmerworld again to produce their 2012 livery. With the team focusing on the BMW E90 sedan in the GRAND-AM Continental Tires Series we were able to work through multiple designs to create a distintive design which shows off the Bimmerworld colors and corporate identity effectively with a BMW Motorsport inspired graphic on the Hood.

I was also a consultant for a third entry, sponsoeed by CRC Brakes.

Bimmerworld 2011 livery

Front running Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge Team, Bimmerworld Racing returned to the track in 2011 with a fresh new livery on their BMW E90 and E90 M3 race cars.

Bimmerworld owner, James Clay contracted Andy earlier in the month wanting a new look for the cars. The Bimmerworld graphic is distinctive with its Blue, Yellow and White branding and Bauhaus font. Andy always likes to incorporate the numbers into the design and a few concepts later, this design was born.

Bimmerworld have extended to a four car team this year, with two new M3 chassis in the GS class. The M3 has Blue hood with White and Yellow BMW Motorsports Style stripes while the regular E90 sedans in the ST class have white hoods.

The team started the season with a podium for John Capestro-DuBetsand Gregory Liefooghe finished 3rd in the Daytona 200 season opener.

Reflective livery on top of the podium in Dubai

Andy Blackmore Design - Team Schubert BMW Z4 GT3 Livery -Dubai

The 2011 Team Need for Speed livery on the Schubert Motorsport BMW Z4 GT3 made its debut with a convincing win at the Dubai 24 hours in January. The reflective livery was a photographer favourite during the event and received much praise on Need for Speed and Speedhunter’s Facebook and Twitter outlets.

The livery features a unique wireframe graphic from the in-game car from Need for Speed Shift 2- Unleashed. The wireframe in the white areas is reflective, giving a unique look.  More images and full details on Speedhunters’ Dubai coverage and on our BMW Z4 Livery Page..

Mustang RTR-X ‘Showstopper’ at SEMA 2010.

The Team Need for Speed Mustang RTR-X which Andy designed with Vaughn Gittin Jr was unveiled earlier this week on the Ford Stand at the SEMA Show. The car looks stunning in the flesh.

Twins Turbo and Steen Chassis did an amazing job bring Andy and Jr’s vision to reality. AutoGuide.com said it was “Definitive showstopper”. The launch took place immediately after the Ford press conference. There were more people waiting by the covered RTR-X than at the main conference.

You can follow the build process and the debut of the RTR-X on Speedhunters and on our own detailed RTR-X post
