Chinese Dragon. JMW Ferrari Livery, Le Mans 2019

The original artwork, converted into ‘vector’ for production. Ciara’s autograph moved so it couldn’t be cropped out – which happens to me with my own logo often LOL

Background:
“I had the opportunity to design a livery for a successful team, JMW Motorsport, racing at the 24hr of Le Mans. The brief was for a modern style of livery which would be a fan favourite, but using the team’s usual yellow as a base. We decided on this modern (Dazzle) Camo look, with lots of illustrations, providing references to Le Mans, Ferrari, the team’s previous success and the drivers.

Driver, Wei Lu, ironically, from our home city, Vancouver, wanted a Chinese Dragon to highlight his heritage and he was happy for Ciara to draw that up, so thats how it ended up on the car in four locations.

Luckily, the livery went down well (always a bonus!) and Ciara’s name was called out on RadioLeMans at the circuit and online and all the main TV commentary around the world including Eurosport and on Canadian and US coverage numerous times.

“Thank you to Wei, Jeff and the team for this”.

A podium finish for drivers, Jeff, Wei and Rodrigo. Initially 3rd, the winning car in class was later disqualified promoting JMW to 2nd.

Halloween 2019

ƃā€šĆ‚Ā

Ciara came up with the idea for recreating Princes Sunny from the book series ‘Wings of Fire’. We ordered a hoody, leggings and bird slippers online and created the rest with various material, marker pens, styrofoam and miles of hot glue! Ciara was heavily involved in every stage of the design and directed me on some of the trickier bits.

We purchased half a styrofaom ball and aƃā€šĆ‚Ā  rectangular block and Ciara got busy shaping the head with a rasp, sandpaper, a hot cutting knife and lots of glue.

Once complete, we covered the styrofoam in material and attached it to a cap.

She also assisted in my costume. I’m usually away at a trade car show over Halloween, thankfully this year the schedulers have taken pitty on parents and the show is one week later, so we’ve made the most of it.

More to come soon, no doubt with a Dragon or Dinosaur theme šŸ˜‰
