AERO paint films and Race driver, Corey Fergus, recently approached me to design a livery for his new Motorsports Promotion Porsche Cayman which he will compete in the the Pirelli World Challenge. With AERO as a partner, it was important to showcase the paint films which they create as well as supply other racers including Michael Shank Racing and my designs for CJ Wilson Mazda MX-5 (CTSC) and Tyler McQuarrie Racing’s Chevrolet Camaro (Formula Drift).

HPA Unveil new Livery
I have recently been working with a local team, HPA Motorsport, one of the leading Volkswagen Audi Specialist in North America on the creative identity of their two car ‘TC’ class team in the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge.
With a desire to showcase their automotive parts and cutting edge SEMA winning car builds, I have created a livery which showcases the parts of their their VW Jetta GLi race-cars via a tear-away cutaway graphic.
With the team being so local, I’ve been able to measure up the car closely and take over 400 reference photos in order to draw up the livery. The design takes the form of a partial wrap with the original Metallic Blue paintwork surrounding the cutaway with a jagged graphic based loosely on their existing corporate identity.
It has been great working with HPA on the design and I believe we have come up with a distinctive design. One of the more complicated and challenging liveries to creates, but nothing I like better.
Quote from the press release (below) : “Andy’s creativity and artistic touch has really set these cars apart. It is his attention to detail that really impressed our group†-Marcel Horn, President of HPA Motorsports. Continue Reading
Illustrations for Nissan GT-R LM NISMO Press Pack
Nissan have released their revolutionary weapon for the 24Hr of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship as part of their Superbowl advert segment. I was fortunate to be commissioned to create some illustrations for their press pack which was created by Paul Ryan Media.
Using a selection of images and renders, but no scale elevations, I was tasked with creating side and plan view illustrations of their new GTR-LM P1 machine in a very tight deadline. Produced entirely in Adobe Illustrator, this vector drawing has been built up in sections so elements can be viewed or more importantly hidden by a click of the mouse.
In addition the artwork for the wheel was then used with some of my other existing artwork for the Michelin Press release at the end of the press pack. Continue Reading
Decoding Ken Block’s Hoonicorn Mustang
I was recently interviewed by RXSpeed about our design and styling process of Ken Block’s Honnicorn Mustang RTR which was built in conjunction with Vaughn Gittin Jr’s Mustang RTR brand and AutoSport Dynamics (ASD).
You can read the in-depth article here.
I also have a detailed feature in the dedicated Portfolio section
Swisher Racing tease new BMW Z4 GT3 livery
Pirelli World Challenge racer, Bill Ziegler and Swisher Racing posted a preview of their new livery on Twitter this past weekend.
The Swisher Racing BMW Z4 GT3 will be prepared by Turner Motorsport and the new livery has been based off the Turner Blue and Yellow livery which I created last year. Turner Motorsport will be running two cars in the ‘PWC’ in addition to their TUDOR United SportsCar campaign.
I had also previously worked with Swisher last year, assisting with bringing their livery idea to life and incorporating it into the GMG Racing team look (another livery I designed!), the team who ran their Audi R8LMS Swisher Racing entry in 2014.
New Saudi Falcons livery: Stand out on track with… Camouflage!
The Saudi-Falcons return to the Porsche GT3 Challenge Middle East championship this weekend in Qatar, with 2012/3 ‘Silver’ Challenge Champion, Faisal Binladen driving a newly liveried Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
The team has previously raced in multiple series including the 24Hr Dubai in a Chrome Green based livery, but for 2015, we decided to mix it up a little.
2015 IMSA Spotter Guide now available
The Official Spotter Guide for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge is now available on my other site, SpotterGuides.com, or from the event section of IMSA.com
For 2015, we are reverting to the traditional 11×17 Landscape Guide online. For the larger races this consists of three pages which will feature all the car, team and driver details to all the entries in the TUDOR Championship. New for 2015, we are also including the leading 40 entries for the Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge. When space allows we will also include the race schedule. The guide will be updated for each race and will be available on the Monday of race week.
ModSpace returns for another title shot with CJ Wilson Racing
CJ Wilson Racing will continue in the 2015 Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge in 2015 with a unchanged livery for the #5 entry of Chad McCumbee and Stevan McAleer.
Entering the last season of competition with this generation of MX-5, the roadster retains the livery design based off team owner and NBA Baseball star, CJ Wilson’s signature. Using AERO materials, the chrome Blue paint film works with a brushed Aluminum vinyl to tie in with partner Modspace.
The design allows for multiple variations as seen on CJ Wilson’s fleet of MX-5 Cup cars in 2014 and the CTSC Total and Zoom Zoom liveries used by their #3 entry in 2014.

Compass 360 Livery for AERO Audi S3 Sedan
I was recently commissioned by AERO Advanced paint Technology and Compass 360 Racing (C360R), one of the leading teams in North American Touring Car Racing to livery their all new Audi S3 Sedan which will make its debut in the Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge at Sebring
C360R have a distinctive livery using a thick stripe of Florescent Red along the side of their car. The clients wanted to promote the Audi relationship so we developed a number of ideas influenced by Audi sport coloration and previous liveries including the current R18-etron look, all the way back to the original Audi 80 GTO IMSA Cars. In the end we settled on a clean livery which incorporates both elements.
2015 Spotter Guides!
I am excited to announce I will be working with IMSA again in 2015 creating the art for the official IMSA Spotter Guides.
Starting with the Rolex 24, IMSA will print a ‘Race Viewing Guide’ booklet available at the circuit as per 2014.
Online, we will be reverting back to the traditional 11×17 Poster Style Guide for you to download which should make things easier! The online guide will be released on spotterguides.com and imsa.com on 19th or 20th January and will be updated during the week as new drivers are announced.
Fredric Aasbø and Papadakis Racing’s newest adventure, Dreamride: Los Angeles
Fredric Aasbø and Papadakis Racing have been clients for many years. I’ve had the oppotunity to design many of Fredric’s liveries way back to the Need For Speed Toyota Supra which he drifted in Europe, prior to the Scion tC campaign with Papadakis.
Fredric narrowly missed the 2014 Formula Drift title in North America but later took the 2014 Formula Drift Asia title in October.
This short film showcases the 2014 Formula Drift weapon, one of my favourite liveries. I was really pleased with how this came out and the contrast between the Florescent Red and White and the Satin Black and Dark Grey. This is a very cool flm.
Speedhunters have also posted an awesome behind the scenes article .

2014 Scion Tuner Challenge Winners!
It has been a crazy week at SEMA for me this year with various meetings and launches of various cars, but one of the main highlights was Speedhunters ‘Maximum Attack’ Scion FR-S winning the 2014 Scion Tuner Challenge earlier this week.
Andy Blackmore, Scion Corporate Manager Dave Harbuck and Speedhunters Technical Editor Keith Charvonia
Hot rod car builder, Keith Charvonia of Charvonia Design, created an amazingly detailed build to an exceptionally high standard, with our reference to the old 70’s and 80’s IMSA heritage and a reason for everything on the car we managed to take the win narrowly from SuperStreet, who had previously won the Fan Vote.
Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to vote for our build last week. It is much appreciated. Thank you to the many partners on the build along with Super Street Magazine and GT Channel who produced awesome builds.
You can read about the other builds and liveries at SEMA here. Thanks again for the vote and the support.
Ken Block’s Gymkhana 7
Gymkhana Seven, the latest video by Ken Block is now live and features the 850hp AWD Mustang RTR ‘Hoonicorn’ which I styled for Keith via Vaughn Gittin Jr’s ‘RTR’ brand.
SEMA 2014 in review
The 2014 edition of the SEMA Show in Las Vegas was a very special one for me. The SEMA show is the largest aftermarket automtive show in the world and one of the largest shows of any kind in North America. This trade only event attracts hundred of thousands of trade visitors and thousands of cars.
This year, I had ten designs at the show including thee builds and eight debuts. It was amazing to see all the vehicles made even better with my design for the Scion Tuner Challenge, the ‘Speedhunters Maximum Attack Scion FR-S’ winning the competition and the debut of the Ken Block 1965 Mustang ‘Hoonicorn RTR ‘which I styled. I hope the variety of designs from the Hoonicorn through to the all new global livery for Maxxis shows the diversity of design which I can create.
More on each vehicle below.

Vote on the Scion Tuner Challenge!
The Maximum Attack Scion FR-S by Speedhunters, created for the 2014 Scion Tuner Challenge has now been released to the public and a Fan vote is now underway.
Three teams are competitng for the Fan Vote and an overall Judging at the SEMA show next week.
I partnered with Keith Charvonia of Charvonia Design to create a special track day racer inspired by the early days of my client, IMSA, and the introduction of Japanese manufactures to American racing including the legendary TRD Celica by Dan Gurney’s All American Racers. You can read more about the design process HERE.
Scion Tuner Challenge : Design Process, Speedhunters Scion FR-S
I have been fortunate to work with Speedhunters and car builder Keith Charvonia on their entry in the 2014 Scion Tuner Challenge, which will be showcased at the SEMA show in November. I recently published a post on the detail design process for Speedhunters which is now available in the Portfolio section.
